Layering isn't just for the runway — done right, it's one of the easiest ways to make a simple outfit look considered. Here's how to get it right.
Start with one anchor piece
Pick a single pendant, like our Compass or Cross Pendant, and build around it. This becomes the focal point so nothing competes for attention.
Vary the chain widths
The easiest layering mistake is pairing two chains of the same thickness — they blur together. Mix a fine Rope or Rolo chain with a bolder Cuban or Curb chain for contrast.
Stick to one metal tone
Mixing gold and silver can work, but it takes a practiced eye. If you're starting out, keep everything in the same tone — all silver or all gold — for an instantly put-together look.
Two or three pieces, no more
Layering is about contrast, not clutter. Two chains plus a pendant, or three chains at staggered lengths, is usually the sweet spot.
